Our Mission
To educate people in dog psychology to understand the instinctual needs of our dogs, thus helping them to live a balanced and harmonious life with us. Our philosophy is a simple one: "Exercise, Discipline then Affection."

Our Dogs are Our Teachers
"We don't necessarily get the dogs we want; we get the dogs we NEED. Our thoughts and actions directly affect our dog's behavior. Once we discover what they are trying to teach us and grow from it, our dogs will follow willingly."
L. De Souza.

Stay calm and assertive, friends, and remember,
"body first, then mind, then heart".

I've had dogs all my life and have worked with them for the past
13 years.  I am certified as a Canine Trainer and Behavior Specialist through the Animal Behavioral Institute.  I regularly work with  Cesar Millan, the world renowned Dog Whisperer, and International Dog Behaviorist Cheri Lucas.

I managed Pet Play for a local veterinary hospital for over
3 years. During that time I assessed and rehabilitated many dogs
with behavioral issues.  I've carried this on with Balanced Paws
to continue to rehabilitate dogs and teach owners on how to live
a balanced, peaceful life with their four legged friends.

My specialties are dog psychology, obedience training, leash-walking, e-collar training, and behavioral modification.

I have been an animal lover all my life- I've worked with horses from a young age and have always had a passion for dogs. I love the challenge of forming a connection with these amazing animals, and better understanding how they percieve the world. Wanting to continue my education, I graduated from the Animal Behavior Institue with a Canine Training and Behavior Specialist certification.

I love exploring the outdoors and the abundant life it has to offer. I’m so thankful to get to share this with Jenna and our Sheltie, Yuma. The way a dog’s mind works is fascinating, and I enjoy the challenge of spending time with a dog to understand how to get them to a calm state so they can enjoy life as much as we do. I have been certified as a Canine Training and Behavior Specialist through the Animal Behavior Institute to understand these important creatures in our lives to the best of my ability.

Megan has operations and doggy daycare experience, trained under Lincoln before becoming our second head trainer, and consistently pursues continued education.  "I never believed in myself as much as Lincoln has", she shares.  "I have a very reactive Aussie who didn’t start out that way but using our methods, I’m able to help her and myself in many ways.  Life is a journey - a series of ups and downs made better by surrounding yourself with those that love you. I’ve found that often those that love the most happen to have four legs.  My furry friends and I use this guidance from Rumi, “As you start to walk on the way, the way appears.”"  Megan also has a pittie, husky, and three human children.

Among much more, Megan leads our e-collar classes and is great at connecting your concerns with a path to success, based on the individual at hand.
